Full Moon and Fungi Adventures in Kempton

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association offers a Foray for Fungi on Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton. Presented by Laura Weishaupt and Rick Bortnick, Ph.D., this beginner lecture and foray teaches the basics of mushroom ecology, differences between major groups, helpful tips and techniques to ID common species, and more. An optional field work session will be held after lunch from 1 to 3 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, July 26.

Also at the Sanctuary, a Full Moon Hike to North Lookout will be held on Friday, July 31 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This challenging hike over two miles of rough, rocky and uneven terrain with moderate inclines and descents demands intermediate hiking experience. Ages 15 and above. Dress for outdoors, wear sturdy shoes, and carry a pack with lunch, water, hand lens (fungi), headlamp (hike) and insect repellent.
