Moravian Theological Seminary, in Bethlehem, offers a graduate certificate in spiritual direction where students learn the practice of classical spiritual direction that utilizes specific skills to listen with another to the direction that the spirit is moving and calling in that person’s life. A spiritual director helps others ask and reflect on the question, “What is God doing in your life?”

This 21-credit program can be completed in two years while students acquire the theoretical foundation, practical skills and personal transformation necessary to companion with others in their spiritual lives. They will also fully develop a contemplative stance in their life, including an increased sensitivity to the movement of the Holy within themselves and their local and global communities. Applicants for the spiritual direction certificate will need to have participated in individual spiritual direction for at least a year prior to being admitted into the program.
