New Attitude Salon and Spa

Trish McAdams-Burt

Trish McAdams-Burt had a long-time dream to open her own salon and spa, and that dream came to reality in February 2014, when she bought New Attitude Salon & Spa. Since acquiring the business, Trish has updated the spa and brought in some of the latest holistic-based products and technologies, literally giving the salon and spa a “new attitude.”

“We brought in new product lines and added organic skin care products and natural cosmetics. We feature the Eminence Organic Skin Care line and Jane Iredale natural mineral makeup,” Trish says.

New Attitude Salon & Spa has a staff of six cosmetologists—some who are also aestheticians—along with one aesthetician, a massage therapist, a manager and a front desk coordinator. All of them participate in continuing education and training to learn the latest techniques available in the cosmetology and spa professions. Trish emphasizes that she works closely with her staff to ensure they have all the tools necessary to provide quality service at every visit.

Spa services include, facials, manicures, pedicures, and massage therapy such as deep tissue and hot stone. The massage therapist also offers cupping therapy, in which special cups are placed on the skin to create suction and facilitate blood flow. Young Living essential oils are incorporated into massage and spa services. Cannabidiol, a non-hallucinogenic derivative of the hemp plant better know as CBD, is becoming an increasingly popular natural remedy for muscle and joint aches, anxiety and other issues.

New Attitude Salon & Spa uses Green Roads CBD oils for those that want CBD incorporated into their therapies. New Attitude Salon & Spa has recently added light therapy technology, a fat loss and body sculpting technique that uses LED lights. The non-invasive technique consists of LED pads that wrap around the client’s legs, arms and abdominal area. The client relaxes with the pads on while listening to calming music. Light therapy sessions average about 30 minutes. Clients typically require about 12 to 14 sessions, followed by occasional maintenance visits.

“The light therapy melts down the fat, and you can lose a couple of inches after just one session—providing that you are still eating properly and exercising,” Trish explains. “It helps to rebuild collagen and decrease cellulite.” The light therapy goes hand-in-hand with the new nutritional counseling services that Trish has added, making the spa area a one-stop shop to achieve general wellness and relaxation.

The salon services include cuts, coloring and hair painting, a trendy highlighting technique sometimes known as balayage. They also offer eyelash extensions, makeup and services for bridal parties. New Attitude Salon & Spa has natural hair coloring options available.

Whether one comes in for the salon or spa services, or both, Trish and her staff strive to create a relaxing ambiance for each client so they can create, rejuvenate and exhilarate. “We emphasize professionalism and provide an outstanding experience for our clients, treating each one as if it’s their first time here,” she says. “I watch the technicians in the salon and the spa take on new ideas and apply them, educating their clients and encouraging them to try out new things. When people come to us, they want to leave their worries and stress at the door, so during the time they’re with us, we do whatever we can to help them achieve peace and tranquility.”
