The Benefits of Diatomaceous Earth

The big buzzword today is collagen. Mainly made up of natural silica, collagen is the glue that holds our bodies together. The primary source of silica comes from diatomaceous earth, which is ancient ocean sediment.

How does diatomaceous earth (DE) work? Many harmful things enter our bodies, which have a positive electric charge. When we ingest silica, which has a semi-conductive charge, the warm body fluids develop a negative charge to the silica and give off extra electrons. These charged mineral ions attract bad microbes, free radicals and other harmful compounds. Acting like a magnet, silica attracts and absorbs positive things that are small enough to go through membrane openings. Add a sugar molecule and toxins can be trapped into the porous, food grade DE particles, which are then excreted out of the body. Because of the strong charge, each silica shell can absorb a large number of positive charged substances. They then pass through the stomach and intestines, taking these harmful compounds out of the body.

When ingested diatomaceous earth starts working in three different ways. First, moving through the stomach and digestive tract, DE attracts and absorbs harmful toxins. These include bacteria, fungus, protozoa, viruses, endotoxins, pesticide/drug residues, e-coli and heavy metals. Second, diatomaceous earth is number seven on the mineral hardness chart (diamonds are number nine). These tiny hardened DE cylinders pass through the small and large intestine. After weeks of repeated daily use, the intestinal wall is no longer coated with mucus plaque. Finally, a small amount of DE. gets absorbed into the blood stream as pure silica. One of the benefits of silica is that it helps to destroy bad fats. According to Australian studies, patients lowered their cholesterol by 40-50 points. (Ref: Luminawellness.com).
