Natural Awakenings Lehigh Valley

Lyme Support Group Meetings

The Lehigh Valley Lyme Support Group hosts monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at the Quaker Meetinghouse, in Bethlehem. The group discusses tick-borne diseases, testing, prevention, alternative solutions and overall support. Every other month features a guest speaker.

Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection transmitted through tick bites from the tiny black-legged deer tick which most often targets the skin, joints, brain and heart, although any part of the body can be affected.

Now associated with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the nonprofit group will be conducting free one-hour DARE 2B Tick Aware programs. “Pennsylvania is still number one in Lyme cases and growing, and the state is starting to get that education out there but so much more has to be done on the educational front, especially with doctors,” says instructor Heidi Healy. “Remember to protect yourself when outdoors. Spraying takes just a few seconds and when you come home do a tick check!”

Admission is free. Location: 4116 Center Street, Bethlehem. For more information, call Healy at 973-610-0531 or email [email protected] to schedule a seminar.
