West Greets East: Alternative Approaches to Aging
Presented by the Phoebe Institute on Aging (PIA) who promotes improved quality of life and care for the aging and their families.
The Western approach to aging considers the human body as primary. Treatments for common ailments associated with growing older—everything from memory lapses to pain to incontinence to loneliness—are generally addressed biochemically. The Eastern approach to aging considers the consciousness as primary. Treatments encompass the body, mind, and spirit. As our aging population increases and grows older, how can we integrate Western and Eastern philosophies to help ensure longevity and quality of life—as well as a peaceful death? This conference explores a world of approaches to that question from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
