Dance and Movement Therapy at Twin Ponds

Suzanne Hastie

National Creative Arts Therapies Week is March 10 through 16. Many may not know this but creative arts therapists (dance/movement, music, art and drama therapists) use intentional applications of the arts and creative processes to ameliorate disability and illness, and optimize health and wellness. Treatment outcomes include improving communication and expression, and increasing physical, emotional, cognitive and social functioning.

At Twin Ponds Integrative Health Center, Suzanne Hastie, a board-certified dance/movement therapist and licensed professional counselor, offers dance/movement therapy, a form of psychotherapy that taps into the wisdom of the body and works with the whole person, integrating movement, mindfulness, the breath, the creative process and verbal communication.

Because dance is the most fundamental of the arts, involving a direct expression of one’s self through one’s body, it is an especially powerful medium for therapy. The dance/movement therapist focuses on the nonverbal style and movement behavior as it emerges in the therapeutic relationship. Expressive, communicative and adaptive behaviors are all considered for both group, individual, couples and family treatment.

Location: 628 Twin Ponds Rd., Breinigsville. For more information or to schedule a session/consultation, call Suzanne at 610-417-0831 or email at [email protected].
