COVID-19 BUZZ TOPIC!!! Vitamin C

With all the buzz of COVID-19, the flu, face masks, washing hands and social distancing, don’t forget vitamin C. We’re not making any claims of miracles to heal you, but heed vitamin researchers like Dr. Linus Pauling, DSc., Dr.Abram Hoffer, MD, PhD, and many scientists from the 20th century.  hey’re backed by a multitude of research on vitamin C benefits.

Incorporate vitamin C into your diet with fresh organic fruit and organic green leafy vegetables.  Vitamin C is quickly absorbed and utilized, so we need to also supplement with other forms.  There are many (powders, effervescent tablets, gummies, tablets, chewables and capsules).  Take vitamin C frequently!  Start your day with a glass of purified water with half a fresh-squeezed lemon or wedges of fresh-peeled oranges; add blueberries or other organic berries to your porridge.

Vitamin C acts like a vacuum cleaner against water-soluble toxins trapped in our bodies.  They’re eliminated through sweat, urine and stool.  My favorite is powdered sodium ascorbate:  10 grams of it per gallon of purified water over a 12-hour period.  It mixes well with fluids, has a mild taste, is gentle on the stomach and is compatible with other foods and vitamins.  Start with a lower dose and build up over time (not to exceed bowel tolerance).  Sodium-sensitive people should avoid this; instead, use a different buffered form of ascorbic acid.

Another benefit is its ability to transform water into free oxygen (O) and free hydroxyl molecule (OH), that O combines with another O = utilized  O2.  Besides our lungs availing us of O2 the ‘C’ is another facilitator of life.

With the immune system and vitamin C there is a monkey wrench ready to invade.  That’s refined sugar, with no nutritional value.  We take it for granted - all refined forms and excessive amounts of processed fruit, e.g., jellies, high fructose corn syrup, etc.  The American diet is loaded with refined sugar!  Look around, read labels and skip what you don’t like.  Don’t be fooled by food engineers incorporating refined sugar into our diets.  Why is this so important?  Sugar preoccupies our immune system from its real job - keeping us healthy!  Sugar increases our risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

For further discussions on vitamin C or any other nutritional subject affecting your health, contact Dr. Jon.  Our new office is on Rte. 309 north of our old location, across from Melody Lake Development.  Address to be announced in July.  Our web site is ToYourHealthNF.com.  Phone 215-538-3480.  We look forward to seeing you and your family.

My message until we meet again:  stay well, keep your feet firmly grounded, keep moving forward and greet each day with a smile.  God is great!
