Center for Anti-Aging Medicine & Hormone Wellness: Natural Care for All Ages and Stages of Life

Dec 29, 2023 05:17PM ● By Sheila Julson

Dr. Albert Peters founded the Center for Anti-Aging Medicine & Hormone Wellness in 2018 in a one-room office, with a philosophy to treat health issues early and at their root causes, rather than waiting for symptoms to develop. His functional medicine approach helps his patients prevent diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and other diseases that are commonplace today.

While his approach hasn’t changed, Dr. Peters has seen his practice grow exponentially as more people seek natural methods that look at the body as a whole entity. Dr. Peters now welcomes his 4,000-plus patients to a larger, bright welcoming space with ample parking.

With a background as a reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. Peters uses his integrative medicine training to dive deep and find the culprits behind the symptoms. “If they come in for menopause, I will also check their thyroid, cortisol, blood sugar and vitamin levels during their visit,” he explains.

By spending an hour or more with each new patient, and 45 minutes for follow up visits, Dr. Peters let patients talk. “Listening to the patient is critically important. When given the necessary time to talk, it can open doors that we need to explore.”

Because he specializes in hormone wellness, Dr. Peters frequently sees patients that present with hot flashes, night sweats, loss of libido, painful intercourse, vaginal dryness, brain fog, weight gain, erectile dysfunction, fatigue and anxiety. His health detective work begins with a thorough workup to find thyroid abnormalities or adrenal problems that can trace back to root causes such as vitamin deficiencies.

In addition, Dr. Peters looks for general inflammation, which can circulate through the body and affect other organ systems. Dr. Peters also does gut testing through stool samples. “All of these issues treated by traditional medicine starts somewhere,” he affirms. “It’s a domino effect, but with integrative medicine, you look for problems rather than waiting for them to show up. We don’t just look at the symptoms or complaints, we look for general wellness parameters that we can work on now to prevent illness later.”

In addition, Dr. Peters addresses general wellness through nutrition and exercise. He takes thorough dietary, sleep and exercise histories to make specific recommendations in those areas. He may also recommend nutritional supplements targeted to meet a specific need.

Through bioidentical hormones, which are derived from plants that are made identical to human hormone hormones that the body naturally produces, Dr. Peters helps men and women regain health and wellness. New to his practice is bioidentical hormone pelleting, in which small pellets are placed under the skin as an alternative to topical creams and capsules.

Also new to the Center for Anti-Aging Medicine & Hormone Wellness is a program to treat erectile and vaginal dysfunction. The GainsWave for men breaks down micro-plaque and stimulates the growth of new blood vessels to improve blood flow. The FemiWave for women can improve sensitivity, lubrication, and strengthen and tighten the vaginal walls. Both devices use pulsed ultrasound technology to improve blood flow, which helps improve erectile dysfunction and vaginal atrophy. The procedures are done in the office and require no anesthesia or downtime.

The lack of a functional and fulfilling sex life can have negative physical and psychological implications on overall health, Dr. Peters notes. “As patients get older and start losing their sexual function, they often think it’s the way it is, but it doesn’t have to be that. We take a comprehensive approach to balance hormones, metabolism and improve organ function.”

Many people begin a new year with intentions to improve their health, only to become discouraged or lose interest as the year progresses. Dr. Peters advises to start with small changes and gradually work up. He also recommends seeing an integrative health provider to get a thorough medical assessment and professional guidance on a manageable, long-term diet and exercise plan.

The Center for Anti-Aging Medicine & Hormone Wellness has enjoyed a steady growth trajectory, and Dr. Peters hopes to eventually add more services, doctors, a functional nutritionist and a natural skin care specialist. For now, he strives to keep up with the latest advancements in integrative care. He is currently working toward another certification in personalized medicine, which he will complete this year. “It’s what we do—treat patients as a holistic entity through individualized care,” he concludes.
