Spring Is an Invitation Reconnecting with Nature, Family, and the Human Experience

Spring arrives quietly. Buds open, birds return, frogs sing and dance. The fruit trees wake from dormancy, and the world slowly stretches back toward life. We all await the leap toward possibility. Many of us feel it, the joy and enthusiasm for getting outside again. To plant, to build, to grow, and to reconnect. Others have an insatiable desire to garden, while many still sense this inkling of a clue that, maybe this is the year.
Gardening, edible landscaping, home- steading, and ecological restoration are more than hobbies. They are reminders of what it means to be human.
A chance to begin again! We shop the catalogs, plant a seed and wait. We make mistakes, and might want to give up but, but we try again and again. It’s part of it all. We observe, we adapt, and maybe try a new variety this year or a new organic strategy?
Nature teaches patience because life itself takes time. A fruit tree planted today may feed a family for decades. A berry bush may become a memory shared with children and grandchildren. A small garden can become a teacher for the youth, introducing confidence, resilience, beauty, wonder and hope. Seeding growth for a lifetime.
Many great projects begin simply - breaking ground and reliving a memory, planting few trees, creating a raised bed, taking a step and dreaming no more. Over time they grow into orchards, food forests, pollinator gardens, outdoor learning spaces, and places of peace.
At Bear Creek Organics we are trying to live this process ourselves. Our farm serves as a regenerative organic demonstration space where we explore ecological growing methods, heirloom seeds, food production, habitat building, and working together with nature.
Through our volunteer and learning group we invite people to participate throughout the season. We share work, food, seeds, ideas, and often lunch together while learning practical skills and building community.
Our ecological edible landscape nursery offers fruit trees, berry bushes, nut plants, native flowers, guild and support species -> by appointment.

For more than 15 years we have been studying what works in our local and regional climate. Good things take time.
This is our busy season and many projects are already moving into summer and fall planning. If you are dreaming about fruit trees, orchards, pollinator gardens, or edible landscapes, now is the time to begin.
The future grows slowly. And that may be one of nature’s greatest gifts. And our gift to nature is to never give up, to press forward towards our dreams with mother nature as the guide, patiently and steadily.
