Natural Awakenings Lehigh Valley

Count on the Sun

The Mid Atlantic Renewable Energy Association (MAREA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to informing and educating the public on renewable energy production, energy efficiency, and sustainable living, will host its next monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31 at TEK Park, Hamilton Boulevard, Breinigsville,

Inspired by recent power outages, the meeting will revisit solar as a reliable source of electricity when the grid’s down. The discussion will cover battery backup, AC Coupling and more. Going from theory to the specifics, Bill Hennessy and Bruce Hankins (both certified photovoltaic installers by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) will discuss the AC Coupling technology that adds battery backup to an existing solar electric installation. They’ll look at design and cost considerations for adding battery backup to existing systems and for planning new systems. They’ll help attendees understand how it all works and answer any questions or concerns.

The discussion is meant for those who have existing solar systems, are considering getting a solar electric system and those who just like to understand how things work. No technical background is required.

TEK Park is located on Hamilton Blvd. in Breinigsville. For additional information, contact Vera Cole at 215-258-0526 or visit TheMAREA.org.
