Informed Foods now Offering Down to Earth Trail Mix

Jan 04, 2012 08:51PM

Informed Foods is now offering what they call, “one of the most nutrient dense, satisfying, and delicious, trail mixes you will ever find.”

The trail mix is a combination of 10 organic ingredients including soaked and low temp dehydrated walnuts, almonds, pecans, and pumpkin seeds, plus dried cranberries, blueberries, sour cherries, raisins, coconut, and chunks of 70 percent dairy free dark chocolate. According to store manager, Sean Ward, soaking and dehydrating is necessary in order to neutralize the enzyme inhibitors contained in them. These inhibitors naturally prevent seeds and nuts from sprouting prematurely but they can strain and tax one’s digestive system. Soaking them helps encourage the production of beneficial enzymes. These good enzymes increase the availability of many vitamins, minerals and other nutrients contained in the nuts and seeds and also make the nuts and seeds easier to digest. “Traditional cultures throughout history such as the Aztecs of South America and Native Americans soaked all seeds and nuts in salt water and then dehydrated them in the sun,” he says.

Some of the nutrients contained in the 10 ingredients include vitamins C, A, E, K and B complex; minerals such as magnesium, calcium, selenium, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, iron and zinc; anti-inflammatory properties such as omega 3 fatty acids, phytonutrients and phytosterols; plus lutein and fiber.

Informed Foods and Smoothies is located at 2374 Seipstown Road in Fogelsville. Wholesale inquiries are welcome. For more information, call 610-285-4158 or visit InformedFoods.com.
