Be Present to Expand Mental Capacity

Creative Holistic Therapy in Allentown is now offering weekly group mindfulness training sessions on Thursday mornings from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and evenings from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The sessions focus on training the brain to focus in the moment to improve all areas of life.

“It is often said the human beings use only a small amount of our brain potential,” states Lyn Felix, a master social worker. “When we replay the past or worry about the future, we decrease our brain’s ability to function at higher levels of joy, confidence and prosperity.”

The group sessions teach skills that increase awareness and increased mental activity by placing us firmly in the present. Research has shown that mindfulness decreases physical and psychological symptoms, benefits the cardiovascular and nervous systems, increases the ability to relax, reduces pain levels and increases the ability to cope with short and long-term stressful situations. The group sessions allow attendees to learn from each other and re-orient perceptions to a non-judging way that supports improved relationships and increased self-acceptance.

Group sessions are $25 and are offered by appointment for on-site workplace situations. Creative Holistic Therapy is located at 3037 S. Pike Avenue (Route 145) in Allentown. Call 610-282-0709 to register. See ad, page 40.
