Tools to Relieve Anxiety

Licensed counselor, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) practitioner and music therapist, Meg Deak, is offering Letting Go of Anxiety, a unique program for deep relief of anxiety, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 9 at Twin Ponds Integrative Health Center. The five-hour mini retreat is designed to immediately reduce tension levels, develop a calm, peaceful state and then learn to identify and neutralize anxiety triggers.
According to Deak, the ability of sound and music to relieve anxiety is well known, as toning and singing bowls allow brainwave activity to slow down, reducing excessive beta levels that are commonly seen in anxiety. While still considered experimental EFT research is showing the efficacy of this simple tool, easily learned and self-administered. A true mind-body approach using cognitive processing while holding or tapping specific acupressure points, EFT has been clinically shown to lower cortisol levels.
