Natural Awakenings Lehigh Valley

Racing Against Breast Cancer

The 20th annual Women’s 5K Classic will take place in the Little Lehigh Parkway beginning at 9 a.m., October 13. One of the largest women-only races in the country, money raised supports women with breast and female cancers and their families while benefiting local programs and organizations.

“Some races are for kicks, some are for glory—this race is for life,” says Board Member Sue Kovacs. “Twenty years is a major milestone worthy of celebration. However, the enemy is a most formidable foe. Breast cancer is the most common form of the disease for women and one that trails only lung cancer in the dubious distinction as the leading cause of death among females. This race supports our overall mission to promote fitness among women and invite women to participate in running and walking to enhance their physical, mental and emotional well-being. We strive to contribute to funding for related programs and research in the Lehigh Valley while educating women about cancer awareness, prevention and treatment.”
