Wake Up to Your Life in the New Year

The Center for Integrated Behavioral Health (CIBH), in Bethlehem, will offer an Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from 6:30 to 8 p.m., January 7. Studies show that practicing mindfulness meditation can literally change your brain as you react more calmly amid the stresses of daily life. Shonda Moralis, Director of Mindfulness, will talk about what mindfulness is and how to apply it to daily life.  You will learn 3 simple mindfulness practices and find out more about CIBH’s mindfulness offerings.

An eight-week group session—modeled after Jon Kabat-Zinn’s evidence-based program shown to improve immune function, increase resilience, decrease anxiety and depression and increase the gray matter in the brain—will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursdays and one Saturday, beginning January 17. Along with the support of a trained teacher and group discussions, group participants learn how to establish and maintain a daily home practice with guided meditation CDs and educational handouts.

Cost: $10, intro session; $395, eight sessions. The 8-week session is approved for 15 Continuing Education (CEs) credits for Social Workers. The Center for Integrated Behavioral Health is located at 1 W. Broad St., Ste. 810, Bethlehem.  For more information and reservations, call 610-865-4300 or email [email protected]
