For Reiki enthusiasts, a great holiday gift available this year is Frank Arjava Petter’s new book, This Is Reiki, which includes intriguing photographs of the early years of Reiki in Japan, with founder Mikao Usui, and Petter’s own experiences with Chiyoko Yamaguchi who was taught by Reiki Master Chujiro Hayashi. Petter is the author of seven other books that changed the way westerners understand Reiki.

For those interested in learning more about Reiki, Arjava, the vice-chairman of the Jikiden Reiki Institute, in Kyoto, Japan, will be teaching Jikiden Reiki near the Lehigh Valley, September 22 to 26, 2013 in Wilmington, Delaware. Paula Michal-Johnson, organizer of this event, will be teaching the Shoden, Reiki I, class locally, January 19 and 20.
