Learn How to Make a Rain Garden

Rain gardens are a great way to conserve water, enhance landscaping and attract beautiful wildlife. The Longswamp Township Environmental Advisory Council will give a hands-on rain garden workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 11, at the Longswamp Township Building.

Longswamp Township in Eastern Berks County is considered a Bird Town through National Audubon Society and this event is under the umbrella of Environmental Education programs that Bird Towns provide as a community service. Community members from around the area will work together to put native plants in the rain garden. Guest speakers will discuss rain garden construction, native plants, bird habitat, and rain barrels.

Cost is $10, including meals. Location: 1112 State St., Mertztown, PA. RSVP to 610-216-7976 or [email protected]. Check Facebook page Longswamp Township EAC for more information.
