A new lactation consultant practice has opened at 901A North New Street, in downtown Bethlehem, at MotherBaby Naturals, a natural baby boutique. There, lactation consultants are specially trained to help mothers prevent and overcome breastfeeding difficulties. Keystone Lactation is the only such private practice in the heart of the Lehigh Valley.

Breastfeeding mothers now have more options when they need help. They can choose to work with either Christy Hume and Christine Roca, the owners of Keystone Lactation, who are both international board certified lactation consultants (IBCLC), and even schedule appointments at their home or at the office.

They teach breastfeeding classes, perform physical assessments of the mother and baby, measure breast milk intake, demonstrate techniques and propose specific, evidence-based solutions. Private consultations are available by appointment. Walk-in weight checks are held on the first Saturday of the month, and breastfeeding classes and free workshops occur monthly.
