Avoid heart attacks, strokes, disability or even death with a Carotid Artery Screening at Twin Ponds Center from 11 am to 4 pm on January 25. This noninvasive, risk-free screening assesses blood flow and wall structure of  arteries in the neck. Each appointment is 15 minutes, results in 10 minutes. Participants will also learn how specific conditions may be corrected naturally.

A carotid artery screening, also known as a duplex scan, is an abbreviated vascular ultrasound study done to assess the blood flow and wall structure of the arteries in the neck that supply blood from the heart to the face and brain. There are six carotid arteries, three on each side: the Y-shaped common carotid artery divides and forms the internal carotid artery and the external carotid artery.

The term “duplex” refers to the fact that two modes of ultrasound are used, which evaluate the velocity and direction of blood flow to indicate stroke risk and obtain the image of the intima and media wall thickness for heart disease risk.
