League of Women Voters Debates Compressor Station

The League of Women Voters will hold a panel discussion, Stop The Easton Compressor Station, at 1 p.m., April 11, about a proposed upgrade to the Easton Compressor Station, located on Klein Rodd and owned by Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation.

Environmental and community groups are concerned about the tons of hazardous waste toxins that will be emitted into the air of the surrounding region, impacting public health and air quality from the greatly increased horsepower that is part of the upgrade.

Expected pollutants include nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, sulfur dioxide and volatile organic compounds that can cause eye and throat irritation, respiratory and pulmonary illness and headaches, as well as prenatal problems.

Five presenters will speak on Fracking and Pipeline Overview, Compressor Station 101, Health and Safety Concerns and Government Agencies. There will be time for questions from the public and additional information will be available for those that wish to be more informed.

Admission is free. Location: 1709 Richmond Rd., Easton PA. For more information, call 610-252-1339 or email President Beverly Hernandez at [email protected].
