Twin Ponds Integrative Health Center presents an interactive event, Shake It Up, with Tahya and the Systrum, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., September 26, to activate spiritual upliftment and rejuvenate a sense of joy. No previous experience is necessary. Available for purchase at the event, the Systrum is an easy-to-play handheld percussion piece that would make a wonderful addition to any world music instrument collection.

It can enhance a band's sound on stage or in the studio; enrich ceremonial events; or enliven a drum circle. Music therapists can empower clients and teachers can bring ancient civilization studies alive. At 16 inches high, this objet d'art, inspired by ancient Egyptian culture also has artistic merit and decorative purpose.

For more than 40 years, Tahya has been engaged in studying and teaching traditional Middle East and Far Eastern sacred and secular rhythms and dance leading to her role in reemerging the Systrum.
