Healthy Alternatives Food and Nutrition Center, in Trexlertown, is celebrating Non-GMO month during October to educate and better inform customers of the benefits of Non-GMO foods and products. Information is available in the store to explain just what Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) are and why they are harmful to people and the planet. Healthy Alternatives is clearly marking their shelves with Verified GMO-free labels so shoppers can be assured of the product ingredients.

“We evaluate every product that we place on our shelves, even vitamins and cosmetics” states store manager Ann Sheridan. “We are asking all of our vendors to tell us if their products contain GMO ingredients. We recently dropped several well-known brands because they could not verify they were GMO free. Our suppliers understand that we want our customers to be able to trust all of the products we sell.”

The nonprofit Non-GMO Project is committed to preserving and building the non-GMO food supply, educating consumers and providing verified non-GMO choices.
