Celebrate International Qigong Day

Lehigh Valley tai chi and qigong instructor Hilary Smith, RN, will lead the World Tai Chi and Qigong Day at 10 a.m., April 30, at Cedar Beach Park, in Allentown as part of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Artemis Morris, ND, MS, Lac, will present Find Your Balance, with methods of finding balance through the practice of tai chi and Chinese medical healing modalities such as acupuncture and Tui na.

Smith say s , “Through learning to regulate the body, breath and mind, the practice of tai chi allows us to maintain our physical and emotional balance in response to the ever changing landscapes of daily life.”

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is held annually in more than 80 countries. Qigong means cultivating energy. It is a system practiced through out the world for health maintenance, healing and increasing vitality. Tai chi is a gentle series of relaxing motions. Scientific research supports it as an adjunct to standard medical treatment for the prevention and rehabilitation of many health conditions.
