Visitors can take advantage of a once-ayear opportunity to learn about local agriculture during the annual Open Gate Tour in Northampton County from 10 to 5 p.m., October 8 and 9; and Lehigh County from 1 to 5 p.m., October 16. Sponsored for more than 40 years by Penn State Extension, guests may visit as many farms as they like, talking with local farmers and learning about the different sides of agriculture.

The Gress Mountain Ranch will be open for exploration from 1 to 5 p.m, October 16, rain or shine to support the rescued animals trained and socialized to become co-therapists for people suffering from emotional or mental trauma. There will be food, beverages, a petting zoo, raffle, pony rides, baked goods and the Bedlam Blues Band performing. Animal blessings will be held at 2 and 3 p.m.
