Natural Awakenings Lehigh Valley

Independence from Hunger Food Drive

The Grocery Outlet, in the Tilghman Square shopping center, in Allentown, will hold a food drive during July to benefit the Northampton County Food Bank. The store will be accepting donations from 1 to 5 dollars or customers can purchase a pre-assembled bag of food for $5 and receive a coupon for $5 for their next visit.

Manager John Strong says, “summer has historically been a slow time for food banks, so this event can help our neighbors in a time of need.”

The store offers deep discounts for natural, organic, specialty health (NOSH) items, based on strategic purchasing from national and regional producers. In addition to standard grocery store items, the outlet specializes in products defined as NOSH-fulfilling criteria that include minimally processed, free of artificial ingredients and preservatives; meeting U.S. standards for organic; premium quality, gourmet and artisanal products; or meeting special dietary considerations such as gluten-free, dairy-free and diabetic-friendly.

Each customer also gets a chance to “win what you saved” in a monthly drawing and with typical savings of up to 60% off, the drawing value can be significant."

“We make strategic buys from producers to help our customers save money, adds Strong. “Shop us first to save the most on your purchase on your first stop. When you find something you like, stock up and stop by often, as our inventory changes regularly. Expect to find the unexpected.”
