Natural Awakenings Lehigh Valley

Power of Tantra

If you’ve heard of tantra it’s likely been in a sexual context. Why? Because in America we like to boil things down to short, easy, sexy. And while that’s not necessarily bad, it is shallow. Tantra offers way more than “spiritualized” sexuality (neo-tantra). In classical tantra we embrace a fully embodied, sensual spirituality that leads to soul-deep connection to our inner selves, to each other, the natural world and the divine. After all, we must first know and accept our truest selves before we can truly connect with anything or anyone else. In today’s world of social media and divisiveness we often feel alone. Tantra provides a path through that illusion. To an inner knowing that there is no separation between the self and everything else. One of the original forms of yoga, it’s unique in being the first to accept and honor our full humanity, our bodies, intuition and energy―including our sexual energy with its amazing power to create new life. It was also the first yogic tradition, often called the “householders’ path,” to welcome women and all walks of life. Tantra yoga (hatha kundalini) is not limited to physical exercise. Sacred ritual is at its heart. Eye gazing, shared energy circuits, stillness, dance, the senses, the elements, masculine and feminine energies and other mystical experiences bring it home. To your heart. Where you discover your own answers, empowering your highest self and a higher level of consciousness. Knowing you’re a brilliant spark of the divine and you are always, always connected.
