How to Get Out of Being Stuck in Your Head

Ever wake up in the night and your mind starts spinning? It leads straight into worry, tasks, anxiety, and fear. Maybe you can’t fall asleep, are replaying the day, or rehashing conversions. It happens in the shower, traveling to work, during family time... sometimes it just doesn’t stop.

Being stuck in our heads is today’s norm for a lot of people. So overwhelmed by overthinking and overdoing that having a good night’s sleep, and finding time to play or be fully present during quality time feels impossible.

Our lives are ruled almost entirely by left-brain logic. Rigid, linear-based, resistant thinking, to-do lists, and analytical mindsets that while certainly have benefits, are given far too much power. We ignore and undervalue the right brain, tied to our feelings, creativity, and our hearts. A totally different way of processing.

To find balance in life and avoid burnout, we must let go of trying to figure things out so much. Our hearts are often whispering the truth from the get-go. Can we stop wasting precious time trying to validate that inner knowing?

If not, we’re like athletes only exercising one side of our body or one side of a muscle. To live in harmony, let’s embrace our full potential, integrating the expansive powers of not only our right brains but also our heart brains. That yes, science has proven exists!

Getting out of our heads requires accessing our hearts, using simple tools like journaling (the mind- dump), meditation (the stillness), and art play (the magic). When you make these regular practices in life the mental chatter fades away and wisdom raises its beautiful, peaceful mind.
