Let’s Get Candid About Candida

Nov 02, 2023 07:51PM ● By Annie Vinatieri (Certified Comprehensive Iridologist, CCI)

A common challenge that I often see in my practice is people with candida overgrowth.

Women seem to be particularly susceptible to this. During an iridology consultation with me, that is one of the signs that I will look for in the iris and sclera. But why is looking for this so important? Because often, if this fungal factor is present, it will inhibit the effectiv- ity of other herbs I may suggest. In other words, we have to clear the “bad stuff ” in order for the “good stuff ” to work it’s magic. The following causes can be related to candida overgrowth.

• taking antibiotics
• diabetes
• eating lots of sugar and refined carbs
• high-stress levels
• moderate to heavy alcohol use
• a weakened immune system
• birth control

Wow, these causes sound like our fast- paced American lives, don’t they? When we begin to look at how to improve our health, we must address mind, body, and spirit.

How does candida present itself? It can be tricky to recognize at first, and some signs are more obvious than others, but here are some to consider:

• oral thrush
• digestive issues
• fatigue, consistent tiredness
• reoccurring urogenital infections • joint pain
• skin & nail symptoms

Clearing out and balancing the human microbiome of candida can pave the way for a better health path. I often recommend cleaner eating, some specifics on how to do that, powerful herbs that can help, and lifestyle changes to promote vitality, relaxation and rejuvenation. Naturopathic modalities, including iridology, can help set you up for success.
