Stop Scrubbing Your Health Away

It is social norm to shower with soap daily.  Well, I am not social norm. I gave up showering over four months ago and was surprised to find my skin and hair drastically improved. I realized the more you shower, the more you need to. Each time you scrub, you wipe away the skin’s microbiome and natural oils. This allows the body to overcompensate, leaving you feeling more oily days later. 

 

The only reason to lather with soap was if you had to scrub something off, like if you rolled around in mud. Americans are obsessed with smothering their bodies with manmade chemicals to make us clean. Everyday people apply several products with harmful chemicals that are absorbed into the bloodstream. Is it any wonder why women today have hormonal issues? These chemicals are known endocrine disruptors. Even the water you bathe in is full of chlorine, heavy metals and other toxic compounds. The more you crank the heat, your shower becomes a gas chamber, as chlorine reacting with organic matters creates chloroform. People wouldn’t drink tap water, but they bathe in it. All of this is harmful to your microbiome.


If your body produces odor, that is a sign of poor gut health and clogged detox pathways. People smell like they are rotting inside because they are. Dousing your body with chemicals and fragrances is not going to solve the problem.


When you shower, you should only apply soap if needed to your groin and underarms. Avoid using soap on your entire body or simply rinse off with water. We must stop obsessing with killing germs and start protecting the microbes that defend our health.
