Spirit guides are thought to be angelic beings who have agreed to be in service of a person or have been assigned them. Most people deny the existence of Spirit guides because they cannot hear or see them. Other people utilize the spirit guidance to help them in some way. 

There are Earthbound spirits that can try to be an imposter “guide”. Here are some things to help know the difference.

Spirit guides come from the Light and have their own energy. Earthbound entities have not returned to the Light since their death and therefore have no energy of their own, they drain the energy of the host. 

Guides are nonjudgemental and do not criticize or insert their advice or opinion when it is not requested. A guide is not seeking something for itself, it is in the service of God and bound to a Higher Order of law and understanding than an Earthbound spirit. 

An Earthbound spirit is out for itself and has a to do list regarding what it wants to get. It also has a tendency to cause the host to experience the same health problems that it has. 

Spirit guides stay unattached, they are described as “light, floating, sparkling and tinkling like crystal” (Baldwin, William 1995). Earthbound spirits on the other hand are described as “shadowy, heavy, clinging” (Baldwin, William 1995) and will sometimes directly involve themselves in events.
