My thoughts for the month...

Nike’s famous slogan ‘Just Do it’

What will my friends think? What will people say? What if someone doesn’t approve of what I’m doing? What if they criticize me? WHAT IF!!!  WHAT IF!!!  WHAT IF!!!  When we attempt to please everyone we wind up pleasing no one, especially ourselves. Since not everyone is pleased with or approves of God, what would make us think we could somehow achieve a universal approval?

An 87-year-old woman announced to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she had decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in law. Taken aback at this idea, her eldest son spoke up. “Mom”, he exclaimed “in four years you’ll be 91 years old if you pursue this degree.”  “Son,” she replied I will be 91 years old in four years whether I pursue a law degree or not.

Too young, too old, too rich, too poor, too anything is just an excuse. We are all exactly where we have put ourselves and can go anywhere we decide to take ourselves.

Understand, you are never too young, too old or too anything else to begin to pursue your aim in life, your ambition, your dream.

Do your own thing, sing your own song, dance in the rain or whatever it is you feel will enrich your life. To spend a lifetime engaged in the idiocy of living your life to please others is at best a fool’s folly. The people whose approval you’re seeking don’t approve of you in most cases, most people do not even approve of themselves.

The point is that age has nothing to do with it. I know 70-year-olds whom you’d guess to be about 55… and 35-year-olds whom you’d guess to be about 50. A sharp mind is of much greater importance than a chronological age.

Forget about anything other than pursuing whatever it is you wish to pursue and know that where you are right now is the place from which to start. Just Do It.

Have a great month
