Natural Awakenings Lehigh Valley

Microdermabrasion is a skin restoration process that increases your skin’s elasticity and its collagen structure by removing the top layer of skin. More layers can be removed where there is excessive growth. Typical examples are callouses, which are due to rubbing… or just exposure to wind or sun because we spend more time outside in the summer. The result of microdermabrasion is that you have a more youthful-looking skin since it is now the newest layer on the surface of your skin, instead of the aging, older skin, which has been removed.

Originating in Europe, microdermabrasion is a form of mechanical exfoliation of the skin using a mild and controllable form of sandblasting using sterile, fine materials specifically developed for use on the skin. This procedure can help combat signs of aging and excess exposure, which can show as fine lines, sun-damaged skin, blackheads, whiteheads, oily skin and age spots. It also helps with reduction of acne scarring, especially when used by a professional.

It is recommended that a client have a series of microdermabrasion treatments (usually 6-12 sessions) within 7 to 10 days of each other, in order to realize a lasting, significant improvement. This stimulates rapid skin growth that brings out newer softer and more flexible surface, similar to a youthful skin that rapidly grows and regrows - just like children grow.
